woodchuck at the national mall
We pulled off a truly EPIC Earth Day celebration in Washington D.C. We traveled all the way from Minnesota to the National Mall to inspire action to promote reforestation and fight climate change.
carbon sequestration
Planting trees helps remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through a process called carbon sequestration. As trees grow, they absorb CO₂ during photosynthesis and store that carbon in their trunks, branches, roots, and surrounding soil. By locking carbon away for decades or even centuries, forests play an important role in slowing climate change and improving overall environmental health.
community engagment
Community tree planting brings people together around a shared goal of improving their local environment. Through hands-on participation, volunteers learn about the importance of trees, environmental stewardship, and how healthy ecosystems benefit their neighborhoods. These events create opportunities for education, connection, and pride, helping communities work together to build greener and more resilient places to live.
urban heat island reduction
Planting trees helps reduce the urban heat island effect by providing shade and cooling the air through a natural process called evapotranspiration. Tree canopies block sunlight from heating roads, buildings, and sidewalks, while also releasing moisture that lowers surrounding temperatures. As a result, neighborhoods with more trees can stay several degrees cooler, improving comfort, reducing energy use
