With 1 million hectares, the Landes forest is the biggest forest in Western Europe. It is located near the Atlantic ocean, in the South West of France. In 2009, a huge storm, named Klaus, devastated 60% of the Landes forest. Most of the trees collapsed, leaving behind a region completely changed. Our project is to continue restoring different tree plots devastated by the Klaus storm in 2009 and still waiting for plantation. These plots are spread across the Landes forest and are 5,000 trees big at minimum. We will restore the damaged forests by planting new trees adapted to the local climate and soil.
